Meeting Notes from Neighborhood Association Meeting
- 09/05/2001
· Review of Committees:
o Communications: Jan Johnston, Chair (see link for meeting minutes)
o Social: Jennifer Attride, Chair
o Community Outreach:
o Dispute Resolution/Mediation: Paul Barringer, Chair
o Other committees not present, not reporting, or not enough people
signed up
· Election of Officers:
o Much discussion on the "structure" of the leadership
positions. Everyone in attendance agreed that a major concern
is time commitment needed for the various positions. Several
ideas were brought forward to alleviate this concern, including
"co" positions (co-president, co-vice president, etc.),
"steering committee" or "leadership council"
approaches; neighborhood "board", etc.
o Attendees agreed on the following approach:
§ A neighborhood "leadership committee" consisting
of a to-be-determined number of members. Current suggestion is
8 members. Those volunteering and/or nominated to be part of
this leadership committee are:
· Roy Attride
· Jill Averitt
· Paul Barringer (agreed to take on Treasurer responsibilities)
· Cathy Camann
· Frank Cross
· Chris Ernst
· Jan Johnston
· John Reese
· Jeff Roberts
· LeAnne Sharp
· Mary Anne Turner
§ Thought needs to be given to logistics - i.e., term length
· 1 year, 2 year
· Rotation - avoid having all members rotate off at the
same time - keep some continuity
§ If there are other nominations or volunteers, please contact

· Association Name
o Everyone is asked to review previously submitted names (can
be found on website - look under "Previous Meetings"
- "Meeting Index" - "August 1, 2001") and
be prepared to choose one next meeting
o Submit additional suggestions via e-mail to group and/or Webmaster
(djohnston@ipass.net) to publish on web.
· Fall Event
o To be held October 27th (Saturday)
o Suggested time is 3p.m. - 6 or 7 p.m.
o Fred Fletcher Park or block off street(s)
o Looking into entertainment - band
o Costume parade for kids and/or other kid activities
o Food -
§ Suggestion to have association provide burgers/hotdogs/or
??
· How to fund?
§ Pot luck dishes - sign up sheet to be posted on website
/ e-mail?
§ BYOB? (Alcohol issues, particularly in FF Park)
o Another planning meeting of Social committee prior to next association
meeting. Those interested in helping should contact Jennifer
Attride at 838-9635 or attride@telocity.com
· Mary Ann Allen will pay fee to Jenkins Church
for use of meeting room for August through December
o Funds from former Association
o Fee agreed on was $10 per month for meetings; additional fee/donation
to church for other events (pancake breakfasts, interim meetings,
etc.)
· SPECIAL NOTICE:
o Meeting to be held on Thursday, September 13th, 7:00 p.m
o Tentatively at Jenkins Church
o Consultant will be here to talk about Neighborhood designation
in National Register of Historic Places, State/local historical
designation
o Additional details to follow from Phil Poe
· Next Meeting: Wednesday, October 3rd, 6:30
