HGBNA Meeting Wednesday, September 1, 2004

PROP
• Councilman Thomas Crowder came by and explained the PROP Urban Preservation Measures to us. Synopses can be found here
• Meeting this coming Tuesday, September 7 at 6:30 - The City Council evening session begins at 7:00 PM. PROP is agenda item #15. Unless the mayor reshuffles the agenda, it could be 7:45 - 8:30 before the PROP hearing begins.

Tour of Homes
• Leann reported on the progress and the need to recruit more houses and more neighborhood involvement, no matter how small.
• Jill is going to speak to Richard about the banner that may cross Glenwood avenue advertising the Tour
• Started thinking about future goals for the Tour from 2005 and beyond. Perhaps making it more "Oakwood-like"
• Discussed the fact that Oakwood is subsidized, etc. and that we don't want it to be "another Oakwood" but we may invest more advertising dollars in order to make more money from the fundraiser. Need to remember that we have a limited budget.
• Rhett will arrange design and proposal for the banner to go over Glenwood Avenue
• Online luminaria signup will be coming soon

Median Clean Up
• Looks like, due to the 10+ inches of rain we've received unexpectedly this year, the date for the cleanup may be pushed back in order to allow Parks & Rec to allocate people to help us.
• Jen will be getting in touch with revised dates- perhaps early October.
• Jen is going to fill out the application we received for an annual azalea giveaway that we may qualify for.
• 30-50 people are the goal for volunteers and it's felt that this is a reasonable figure.
• Looking into an alternate location for kids to gather so that parents may help as well. Kids will not be allowed to take part in the cleanup "proper"
