Action Item: Rhett to get Roy “blurb” on what we are trying to do.

2. Food and Entertainment Committee – Need a Volunteer Coordinator for the event and need volunteers for that committee. Would like to have food and entertainment donated for the event. 2. Broadway Dance Project: Tito Hernandez and Catrina Godwin
New Business at 501 Washington Street! Projected Opening- June 6th
Long established Dance Studio has moved to 501 Washington Street. Owners Tito and Catrina of the Broadway Dance Project are renovating the space and are bringing
accomplished dance instructors and a beautiful facility. We are very excited about having them as part of the neighborhood.

Tito and Catrina offer instructions in jazz, tap, ballroom, salsa and much more for adults and children - beginning levels to advanced. One of the instructors lives in our neighborhood. They will also be renting their unique space for private events such as weddings, bar mitzvahs etc. Building includes a 2000 square foot space with 22’ ceilings.

Tito and Catrina offered their services for neighborhood events and offered that the association can utilize their space. Ideas included offering an hour of learning swing or salsa at neighborhood events etc. Possibility to rent the space for the Neighborhood 100 Year Anniversary Party.

Thanks to Ben Kuhn for introducing us to Tito and Catrina!

ACTION ITEMS:
• David Johnston to put the link to the website on glenwoodbrooklyn.com
• David Johnston to add their email address to the distribution list

3. Ben Kuhn- Ligon Parking Lot Meeting Recap
Meeting with City Councilman Thomas Crowder, York Properties and neighborhood representatives to discuss problems with Ligon Parking Lot on Brooklyn Street. Councilman Crowder instructed York Properties to devise an action plan to address concerns of neighborhood regarding student’s activities, trash etc., associated with the parking lot owned by the Ligon Family.

4. Block Party Recap
Attendance: approximately 75 people came through (similar to last year) – impressive considering the weather!
Quite a few new faces came to the event!
T-Shirt Sales: Sold 21 blue and 16 white. Ordered 100 - have sold approximately 38 or 40 - sold out of small blue shirts. T-shirts may be ordered via the website, and we will continue to sell at events and meetings throughout the year. Final count will be determined to better plan for next year.
The Block Party cost us about $377.00 total, but we got the keg for half price. We collected about $700.00 between dues and T-shirt sales, and deposited $592.00 into the Association account
Approximately 16 people paid dues at the event.
Last year’s t-shirts will now be on sale for only $5.00
Suggestions:
• Larger pig next year!
• Signs at end of streets saying street closed as a courtesy.
• Recorded music was great and may be way to go in the future unless we can get free bands.
• Event may have been too early in the year – maybe first weekend in May as long as not Mothers Day, or middle weekend in May as long as graduation is not taking place.

We need to make push for membership and a push to sell t-shirts for the rest of the year

5. Miscellaneous:
• Contact N&O about upcoming events.

• Jen Almekinder has one more median workday with the city. Can either do May or September. Voted to do in September.

• Downtown Dan Douglass- have him come to talk to the neighborhood regarding plans for Downtown Raleigh
