We Wined...We Dined...We Joined Committees!

In what is sure to be a benchmark to measure the success of future "social meetings" of the Historic Glenwood-Brooklyn Neighborhood Association, the Wine&Cheese&Join-A-Committee meeting on Wednesday, March 5th was a success beyond our expectations! Approximately 60 people turned out to socialize with their neighbors, hear more about the Association, and of course enjoy the fine wines provided by the neighbors, and the yummy goodies coordinated by Elizabeth Stephenson (thank you again, Elizabeth!). Our immense appreciation goes to Jill and Richard Averitt for so graciously opening their home to all of us for this event!

After a period of socializing and enjoying the company of our neighbors, Marcea Barringer presented the proposed HGBNA Mission and Vision Statements. These were drafted by a team comprised of Marcea, Chris Ernst, Mary Ann Turner, and Elizabeth Stephenson, and based on feedback provided by attendees at our February meeting (see link on homepage to the compilation of responses). Both the Mission and Vision statements were received enthusiastically and were approved unanimously by all in attendance. You can view our Mission and Vision statements on the Adminstration page of this website.

Jennifer Attride provided an overview and update of the annual Tour of Historic Homes, inviting participation on a number of fronts. Stay tuned for more information on the various ways you can participate in this annual fundraising event.

Then, the Committee Chairs were introduced in turn, and provided everyone with a description of their respective committee, and what they hope to accomplish with the help of additional members. Throughout the evening, neighbors could ask questions, gather information and sign up for any committee in which they were interested. After the Chairs finished their overviews, everyone was again encouraged to sign up, and we are happy to report that many of you did! For those who signed up for a committee, you will be hearing from your Committee Chair soon, with information and next steps. We will also post the members of each committee on the website, so check back for further updates.

The evening was a real success, thanks to all of you who attended. We appreciate your support and your ideas, and whether or not you joined a committee, thanks for coming and sharing! Again, a very special thank you to Jill and Richard Averitt, and to Elizabeth Stephenson, for making the evening both enjoyable and successful!

Next Meeting: Wednesday, April 2nd, 6:30 p.m. at Jenkins Memorial Church
