Jenkins Memorial Church

Home Tour ’03 Wrap Up

• Great success for another year!

• Pros: Posters, Post Cards, John & Dan’s after-party, Filmore Valley Boys
• Cons: Glenwood Gaps, Spotty voting
• Door took in $690.00 and advertising almost another $1K
• We have a website roadmap now for the Home Tour provided by Jen Attride
• Voting changes to be made to avoid ‘freeloading’ tourists and also ensure the most number of houses make it into the voting process
• 1PM to 2PM have consistently been the doldrums. Need to consider perhaps moving the timeframe to 2-8PM?
• As the tour is so widespread (at least whenever the Johnston’s are on it ‘-), it becomes about a 2-hour walking tour if the tourist opts to do so
• The luminaria seemed to have a lot of ‘last minute interest’ even though the process had been advertised for some time
• David will need to add a phone number area to the sign up page/sheet in order to be able to call those that reserve and then don’t’ show
• THANKS to all the folks who helped assemble and distribute this year!
• Perhaps next year we could get the Boy Scouts to help out for credit?

• David needs to place an ad for the T-shirts on the site – 10.00 members and 15.00 non-members
• Need tofind out how much a banner for the Home Tour would cost and what the guidelines are for placing it over Glenwood
• Music program (Meredith, Peace, etc.) may be a good idea to have at the church?

We discussed the transition between Chris and Jan and the need to execute this year on the things we’ve been talking about: median improvement, signage, Fref Fletcher Park improvements, Community Outreach

Discussion about who the block captain’s are and what their roles are now

Discussed the need to re-invigorate the Neighborhood Watch program- Judy Ward needs to spearhead and perhaps schedule a forum in the near future

Jen Almekinder- the third Thursday of the month, the Council may have on the agenda playgrounds, etc. and we need neighborhood participation in this to address amendments to the Master Plan

Discussed the possibility of the Fred Fletcher “Dog Area” where dogs can be unleashed.

Need to add Traffic Calming to the letter on the website

Chris gave a mural update and proposed we vote on it at the wine & cheese social. He will be investigating the matching grant funds available and the sweat equity aspect.
