Meeting was facilitated
by Chris Ernst.
Chris took everyone through the decisions regarding the leadership
of
the neighborhood association, and the efforts to get a level
of
structure in place. The structure that has been decided on
at this
point is as follows:
There will be
a Neighborhood Council, which currently consists of 15
people in 3 capacities:
Council Leaders:
President, Vice President, and "At Large"
Teams, which have Team Leaders and Team Members
The duties of
the Neighborhood Council are to
1. Oversee the Association as a whole
2. Specific duties as Team Leader or Members of the various
teams
3. Meeting facilitiation, including determining the program,
getting
speakers, etc.
The duties of
the President include overseeing and facilitating
association affairs, providing long-term planning, etc.
The duties of the Vice President include overseeing communications
between the 5 teams, and the neighborhood as a whole.
The duties of the "At Large" Council Leader include
helping to
coordinate across all the teams, and overall assistance where
needed.
Chris Ernst
is currently serving as the President of the Neighborhood
Council
Jan Johnston is currently serving as the Vice President.
Jill Averitt is currently serving as the "At Large"
Council Leader
(Length of terms to be determined.)
Within the Neighborhood
Council are 5 Teams, as follows:
Communications:
Oversees Association communications - website,
flyers, newletter, etc. Also includes working with Block
Captains as
part of the Community Watch program
Community Affairs: Oversees neighborhood interests as liaison
to City
of Raleigh, CACs, and other neighborhood and business groups
Community Outreach: Oversees outreach within our neighborhood
and
throughout the City of Raleigh (H.A.N.D.S., labor co-op,
helping
neighbors in need, charitable acitvities, etc.) and arbitration
of
issues within the neighborhood
Finances: Oversees association fundraising activities and
accounting
(Holiday Tour, Auction in the Park, bookkeeping, etc.)
Social: Oversees social activities of the association (Fall
Fling,
Pancake Breakfast, etc.)
2. Jennifer Attride
re-capped the Fall Fling. Frank Cross suggested that
there be a written re-cap ("exit interview") of the
Fall Fling, noting what
worked, what
didn't work, ideas, suggestions, etc. for use next year.
3. Jennifer also
talked about the upcoming Holiday Tour of Homes,
scheduled for Saturday, December 1st from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tickets
are $7.00.
VOLUNTEERS ARE
NEEDED FOR FOOD, HELPERS AT THE
CHURCH TO SELL TICKETS, TROLLEY RIDERS, etc. ADDITIONAL HOUSES
ARE NEEDED
FOR THE TOUR AS WELL.
If you can volunteer
to help, or would like to volunteer your house be
added to the tour, please contact Jennifer as soon as possible!
4. Other Business:
Phil Poe said that our City Councilman, Benson Kirkman,
has
volunteered to attend our Association meetings, upon request.
Phil will
get Benson's e-mail address to David Johnston (webmaster)
for meeting notifcations.
Phil also
talked about the pending project to build residential
condominiums at North Boylan. Community involvement is needed.
There will
be a joint meeting of CACs on November 20th to review the project
status.
Phil will get information to be posted on our website.
