Jenkins Memorial Church

Fall Fling Re-Cap:

*Good turnout despite the iffy weather. Estimate 40-50 total.
*Collected $100 between donations and T-shirt sales
*Thanks to Richard Averitt for getting the beer & hot dogs, Dennis
Poteat for arranging for the beer permit, everyone who pitched in and helped with bringing a dish, setting up, cleanup, cooking, etc. and especially Cathy Camann & Don & Leanne Sharp for coordinating
*Consensus seems to be that Sunday is a better day for the Fall Fling.
*We will look at possibly having it earlier in the month of October, or maybe even September, next year so as not to compete with time change, State Fair, etc.

Tour of Historic Homes Update:

*Date of Tour is Saturday, December 6th, 1-7. Inclement weather date,
Sunday, December 7th.
*We have 8 homes signed up. More are welcome! If you'd like your
home to be on the tour, please contact Jennifer Attride as soon as possible

Luminaria update:
*We will be assembling luminarias on Wednesday night, December 3rd,
6:30 - 9:00
*Luminaria must be picked up that night
*We cannot deliver luminaria except in special circumstances
*Neighbors should reserve the number of luminaria they need for their
house; do so through form on website
*All neighbors are responsible for picking up enough luminaria for
their house, setting them up, and cleaning them up
*Luminaria are to be lit starting at 6:00 p.m. On Friday, December
5th, and re-lit for the tour, or at dusk on the evening of the tour
2 tealights provided, one for each day
*Need volunteers to help with assembly! Come to the church on
Wednesday December 3rd if you can help

Council Leadership now President and the 2 Vps

Nominations & Elections:

Nominations received & accepted:
President: Jan Johnston
Vice President, Communications: David Johnston
Vice President, Committees: Christina Sanchez
Tour of Homes** Committee Chair: Elizabeth Stephenson
Community Affairs: Marcea Barringer
Finance: Mary Ann Turner
Social Committee Chair: TBD

All in attendance accepted this slate of nominations and these people were elected these positions. We extend our thanks and appreciation to outgoing President, Chris Ernst, outgoing Community Affairs Chair, Phil Poe, and outgoing Social Committe Chair Jennifer Attride. Chris, Phil and Jennifer were all instrumental in moving our Association and the neighborhood as a whole forward, getting us recognized within the City Council, providing infrastructure for our gatherings, and establishing a very good foundation for us to build on. We look forward to your continuing contributions in a less "formal" role in the future! Thanks for all your hard work.

Other news:

Dennis Poteat updated us on the recent rash of break-ins, and said there had been a major break in the case. He hopes to be able to provide details at the next 5 Points CAC meeting, but there is potentially very good news for us. He also extended compliments to the neighborhood for really coming together, being proactive, and taking steps as a community to respond to the break-ins. He said it truly made a difference, and that we are all to be commended for our response.

Next meeting: Assembling luminarias on Wednesday, December 5th, 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. Don't forget you must pick up the luminarias you reserved that night! And mark your calendar for the Tour of Historic Homes, Saturday, December 6th, 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. Admission is $10. Watch for additional information on the website!

Thanks....
