Historic Glenwood-Brooklyn Neighborhood Association Meeting - 10/02/2002

Tony Sterantino, a Master Gardener with the Wake County Extension Service, gave us a great presentation on composting. In addition to an informative video, he provided detailed information and advice on composting dos and don'ts, and answered questions. <If you can, scan in the "A-B-Cs of Composting" sheet and link to it - I have it...>

During the business portion of the meeting, we covered several important topics.

Council Nominations & Elections:

We discussed the nomination process and the names of people who have either volunteered or been nominated for Council Leadership posts. Jeff Roberts will finalize the ballot and Council Elections will be held at the next Association meeting on November 6th. All Voting Members of the Associations are encouraged to attend to cast your vote! (Reminder: only Voting Members are allowed to vote, and you must be present to vote.) This will also be your opportunity to learn more about the various committees, and to volunteer if you would like to join a committee.

Discussion then turned to the Fall Fling. A decision was made on the date: Sunday, October 27th, and time: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m., in Fred Fletcher Park. Fliers have been distributed to neighbors. Please see the announcement on this website, as well. We hope to see you at the Fling!

We also began to plan for the Tour of Historic Homes. This year's tour will be on Saturday, December 7th. We still need homes for the tour, so if you would like to show off your lovely home on the tour, please contact Jennifer Attride at 838-9635. Check back to the website frequently for updates and additional information about the tour, and come to the November 7th meeting to learn more.

Finally, Jim Ward is coordinating Volunteer Work Days in Fred Fletcher Park to do general cleanup and maintenance. The next Volunteer Work Day is Saturday, October 19th, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Please RSVP to Jim if you can help, or for more information: 828-5631. The Volunteer Work Days are typically scheduled for the 3rd Saturday of the month.
